Because there can never be too much bingo :p This will be short and easy, and require absolutely zero effort on your parts. There are 152 names so I'm going to call 20 at a time every 15 minutes (more or less). The last round (round 8) has 12 names. If one of those 12 names is on your card, you get 15 points. Easy as that! You don't have to do anything to claim your points (though if you want to comment that you got a reverse bingo, I would super appreciate it). I'll check all the cards when I tally bingo results.

Feel free to chat in the comments if you want!

Results for closed challenges that don't have results will hopefully be posted tomorrow. (I have a work deadline on Tuesday, so I really need to get that done first, but as soon as that is done, results are next on the to-do list. So if it's not tomorrow, it will be Tuesday. I apologize for the delay.)

Now, let's reverse our bingos ...

Activity: Guess My Fandom
Deadline: Thursday, November 22, 11:59p CST (12:59a EST//9:59p PST//5:59a GMT)
Points: 2 points for posting a summary, 2 points for the first person who gets it right. Max of 40 points. No sigtags cuz that would be messy.
Details: Post quick summaries of TV shows, movies and books and then guess what other ones are

Last challenge! (And as I mentioned earlier, if you guys want more time, just let me know.)

This one is a little more interactive and based on that thing that went around last year on Twitter where you had to write the plot of a movie or book in 140 characters. So it's like that but we're going to do it in 10 words or less since counting characters is a pain.

So basically, think of a book, a TV show or a movie and then write a vague description that is no more than 10 words. Then let other people guess. Then tell them if they are right or not.

Person 1: Book: A werewolf falls in love with a monster baby
Person 2: Breaking Dawn!
Person 1. YES!

See how that easy that was? Please label whether your summary is a book, movie or TV show. If it's more than one, just pick a category.

There is no limit to how many you can guess or how many summaries you can post. If you post summaries, please make sure you reply to tell the person if they got it right or not. If not, I won't know either and won't be able to award you points.

Activity: Simon Says!
Deadline: Thursday, November 22, 11:59p CST (12:59a EST//9:59p PST//5:59a GMT)
Points: 20 points for solving the game +1 for sigtags
Details: Follow the directions to change one Harry Potter quote into another!

Totally stole this idea from fandomverse. Totally stole the exact challenge from myself at hogwartsishome, which is why it's Harry Potter and not TV, because it took me like an hour to make it and I didn't want to do that again.

But it's an easy one and people at HiH seemed to have fun, so here's hoping!

I'm going to give you a quote from Harry Potter and a series of directions. If you follow the directions correctly, you will end up with another quote from Harry Potter. Tell me the quote you ended up with and I will give you 20 points.

Totally easy, y/y? Then here we go!

It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live

• Take the quote above and remove all spaces
• Change all I’s to N’s
• Remove every third letter starting with the third letter
• Change the second O to a Y
• Change the third O to a U
• Change the third O to an E
• Change the fifth letter to the letter that comes before it in the alphabet
• Remove the last two N’s
• Change all the L’s to T’s
• Add a B after the second R
• Change the second to last E to the vowel that comes after it in the alphabet
• Change the 11th and the 20th letter to the letter that is three after it in the alphabet (i.e., if the letter is A, change it to D)
• Delete the second to last letter
• Change the third vowel to an A
• Delete the second to last letter
• Change the last letter to an H
• Delete the 15th through 17th letters
• There are two consonants that are in there three times. Take the one that comes first in the alphabet. Change the second reference to a G. Change the third reference to a Y.
• Delete the fourth letter
• Change the last vowel to a C
• Switch the second and third letters
• Insert 4 spaces where appropriate
• Submit the new quote in a comment along with your sigtag!

Activity: Who's on First?
Deadline: Tuesday, November 20, 5:59p CST (6:59p EST//3:59p PST//11:59p GMT)
Points: 10 points for submitting three guesses +10 if you get one right, +25 if you get two right +40 if you get three right +1 for sigtags
Details: Choose three shows from the list below and pick who is going to say the FIRST word!

So a ton of comms do Last Word, but what can I say, I'm different (actually, I'm lazy, and finding the last word is a lot of work because my DVR does not automatically fast-forward to the end, so ...), so we're going do to First Word. Which works exactly the same. Guess who is going to say the first word of an episode that is airing this Tuesday or Wednesday.

You may pick three shows from the following list (sorry if your favorite show is not on there, but I need shows I know or I will have no idea who is talking!) and tell me who will be the first person to speak.

Because there are a lot of shows to choose from, I'm not going to give you names for each show, so it will work like this: If you think one of the regular characters will speak first, then pick them by name. If you think a guest star for that episode is going to speak first, then pick Guest or Other or something like that. (If you don't know any of the shows, either ask your teammates for help or use imdb)

Here are the shows:

Don't Trust the B
Go On
Happy Endings
Hart of Dixie
Law & Order SVU***
New Girl
New Normal
Private Practice (Tuesday)
Private Practice (Wednesday)
Raising Hope

**Private Practice is on twice, so if you pick that, be specific which day. Voiceovers don't count, if there are any (so, for Survivor, Jeff's intro doesn't count). If there is a new episode of a show airing Tuesday or Wednesday that you really want included that isn't on the list, let me know. If you can find someone who will be in charge of watching it to determine who said the first word, then we can add it.

***Meredith made a good point. Since crime shows almost always start with the crime, that would give "other" pretty good odds, so for SVU, we'll count first word spoken AFTER the opening credits.

... Not really. Well, maybe. Okay, due to Angie asking nicely and me being a fail at time management in the first place, Challenge 4 (Bingo Big(ish) Bang) is being extended. You can have till 11:59p CDT Thursday, November 22 (12:59a EST//9:59p PST//5:59a GMT) to finish it. So 4 extra days!

(Thursday is American Thanksgiving, so I'm open to making a longer extension if you want it, but after Friday (the 23rd) it will be harder for me to post results until the following Thursday, because I'm traveling for work, so just a heads up there.)

Challenge post is here! Almost everyone requested a card, but if for some reason you didn't and still want one, just let me know!

ETA: I know the quotes are turning out harder for a lot of you than I intended. I'm sorry! I didn't think it would be so complicated. My advice to you would be to just use the quote as the most loosely based prompt you can. For instance, if your quote mentions a boat, then use boat as your prompt. If it mentions love, use love as a prompt. If it mentions trust or paranoia, use that as prompts. You don't have to use the entire quote or how it was intended or anything. As loose as possible is totally fine. I hope that helps some!!

16 November 2012 @ 03:57 am
Thank you for voting, everyone! Because there was a tie, we're going to go with Option #2 so you all have a little longer to prepare (aka find a team member to watch your card if you can't be there). Therefore, bingo will be held at

(And because I'm afraid I did the time conversion wrong, even though I double-checked with my good friend Google, here is a time countdown thingie.)

In addition, I have compiled all the names on to a spreadsheet. Please check to make sure all yours are there and that there are no duplicates! You don't get any points for checking, but since you can't win if your names aren't there, it's probably best to just check now.

14 November 2012 @ 06:38 pm
Hi bbs! How is everyone? Working on your quote bingo cards?

I'll get results up for All the Feels and Gif Me a Challenge tonight when I get home from my hockey game. Also, there will be 3 final activities, but I promise they are easy & not very time-consuming at all! Two of the three will be due a week from Wednesday, because I fail at time management and I realized today that since I have my biggest work deadline of the year on Tuesday that the chances I'll have banners for you guys by Monday are pretty much 0, so you might as well have the time to do things!

And if you really want to be done with everything by Sunday, then you can just finish early. Win-win for everybody! Otherwise known as rationalization ftw. Cuz that's how I roll.

Bingo for everyone! — due tomorrow (Thursday) at 5:59p CST, which should be 11:59p GMT if I converted the time right. Either way it's 6:59p EST.
Bingo Big(ish) Bang — due Sunday!
Rock, Paper, Scissors — Only one team has submitted their rankings guesses, so there are still lots of points up for grabs! You have till the round ends, which would now be Wednesday.

Now, even more importantly, here is a poll for bingo. Please check all the times you could possibly make it — or if you can make all of them, you can just check the 'All of them!' box. Don't want you to wear out your mouse :p

Please vote in, say, the next 24 hours. That way, tomorrow I will post the list of names for you to check and the time of the game. I'm going to try and plan it so the game takes about 1.5 hours to 2 hours, but no more than 2 so no one gets (too) bored.

Also, I forgot to mention this before, but if you can't make it, you can have someone watch your card. I'd prefer people not watch more than 2 cards in addition to your own, since I'd rather have you all play, but there is no hard and fast rule. So you can watch as many as you want!

Poll #1878872 Bingo! When to play?
This poll is closed.

What days/time can you play?

Friday — 6p EST/11p GMT
Friday — 8p EST/1a GMT
Friday — 10p EST/3a GMT
Saturday — 2p EST/7p GMT
Saturday — 4p EST/9p GMT
Saturday — 6p EST/11p GMT
Saturday — 8p EST/1a GMT
Saturday — 10p EST/3a GMT
Sunday — 2p EST/7p GMT
Sunday — 4p EST/9p GMT
Sunday — 6p EST/11p GMT
Sunday — 8p EST/1a GMT
Sunday — 10p EST/3a GMT
All of these!
None of these!

If you picked none, what time Fri-Sun could you play, if at all?

That's it from me! Anyone have anything they want to say? <3

Activity: Bingo for everyone!
Deadline: Thursday, November 15, 5:59p CST (6:59p EST//3:59p PST//11:59p GMT)
Points: 10 points for submitting 12 names/items, 15 points if you make a card to match + more for winners
Details: Pick 12 names. Play bingo!

We're going to play bingo! Some time the weekend of November 16-18 (I'll put up a poll in the next day or so to figure out what works best for the most people). But for now, we need to pick names/items for our cards.

You need 12 names/items. Anything or anyone goes. No restrictions! If you use a fandom character, though, please try to give me their first and last name and fandom to make it easier for me to know if there are duplicates. Names are due Thursday before we play, so I can put the list together and make it public for you all to look at before we start, just to make sure I don't miss anything or nothing is on there twice.

We're going to just play regular bingo — if all 12 of your names are called, you win. But there is a special little twist. Out of your 12 names, pick three of them you think are super lucky. During the game, three rounds will randomly be considered "special rounds". If any of your 3 names come up during the special rounds, you'll get 10 extra points per name.

In addition, if you want to make a bingo card to go with your list of names, you'll get an extra 15 points for that. And, you know, have something pretty to look at when we play :)

If you have any questions, just ask! Here is a textbox to make your submission easier:

Activity: Gif Me a Challenge
Deadline: Tuesday, November 13, 11:59p CST (12:59a EST//9:59p PST//5:59a GMT)
Points: 2 points per comment, max of 40 points. No sigtag points because that would get messy.
Details: Have an icon conversation. Or a gif one. Or a sigtag one.

For something easy, it's time to break out our gifs and icons and even sigtags and have a conversation of sorts. I think most of you have probably had an icon war or a gif war before? It's basically that, except the person who starts the thread decides what form of conversation it will be: icons, gifs or sigtags (can be from any and all landcomms. What else are you going to do with all the ones you have lying around?) and everyone who replies to that thread has to use the same type of media.

You can't reply to yourself, since that would not a pretty one-sided conversation, but otherwise, have at it. And have fun!

If you have any questions, just ask!

Activity: All the Feels (Show version)
Deadline: Tuesday, November 13, 11:59p CST (12:59a EST//9:59p PST//5:59a GMT)
Points: 25 points +1 for sigtags
Details: Share your love of one of your favorite shows!

Does it still count as 'after dinner' if I haven't had breakfast yet?

Think of this as a sort of 'Rec a show'-type challenge. I know you all have shows, current or past, that you just love and love to squee about. So we're going to do that. The only real stipulation is you need to include 5 reasons that you love your show. (These can either be long, elaborate reasons, or if you're Angie doing Once Upon A Time, you can simply have 'REGINA' as one of your reasons.)

Along with your reasons, you should also have some form of other media to represent your reasons, either things you've made yourself or things you've found that others have made (just be sure to credit them).
Guidelines, although I won't be super picky:
• 10 items if you don't make them
• 3-4 icons
• 1-2 gifs
• 300-400-word fic
• 10-15 photo picspam
• 1 wallpaper or tumblr-type image

Since we don't have a social comm, you can post your entries just here in the comments, in your own journals or in your team comms (unlocked if you're okay with people not on your team seeing them). If you post them elsewhere, just make sure you give me the link here.

If you have any questions, just ask!
05 November 2012 @ 05:46 pm
Hey, everyone. Sorry for being so MIA this week. My sister just had a baby and my parents are here, and I completely and utterly underestimated how much entertaining they would require. But I have a bunch more challenges to post tonight, so I will do that as soon as I get back from dinner.

Also, Team Revolution just got a new member, unwritten_muse, to help even the teams out a bit, so because of that, I gave her till Thursday to enter Challenge 05. So if the rest of you want a couple extra days, you can have them.

And for Challenge Two, the ratings guessing, the hurricane sort of messed up the challenge because Monday and Tuesday shows weren't really on last week, and then this week, tomorrow is election results so shows aren't on and I think Wednesday a lot of shows are in repeats, so all that said, I'm going to calculate the results starting from this Thursday through next Wednesday. It shouldn't change anything that you already guessed, but if you feel like you want to change things around because of this new development, then just do it before Thursday night.

Also, don't forget Rock, Paper, Scissors! There hasn't been any action for awhile (and I have been checking!). You still have two weeks, but it's worth a lot of points if you finish, so it might be worth it to finish. Just sayin' :)

Anyway, HUGE apologies for being so totally fail-y. New challenges will be up soon, I promise!
(And for those of you on the East Coast, I hope you all are okay after the hurricane!)

How is everyone doing, by the way??

Finally! An easy activity. Or, at least not complicated. Play puzzles, solve puzzles, earn points. The easy puzzle is worth 5 points, the medium is worth 10, the hard is worth 15 and the difficult is worth 25. In addition, for each puzzle, the one person who solves it with the fastest time gets a 5 point bonus. Hey, you guys! Because I neglected to do a reminder post last week and so far only 6 people have entered, I'm going to extend the deadline for Challenge 2 just slightly. So you can now have until 6:59p CDT tomorrow to turn in your rankings (which is one minute before primetime starts, because after that, our challenge goes into effect). In other timezones, that is 7:59p Eastern, 4:59p Pacific and 11:59p GMT.

Enter here!

And this week I will do a reminder post for you all! Sorry about that!
